Apple Day 2016
Natural Food Store at Apple Day Again
Saturday 15th October, at Heart, 1.30pm – 4.30pm
Once again apples are the theme for an event at Heart (Bennett Road, Headingley, Leeds, LS6 3HN). Free admission for all. Bring your apples, join in preparation, pulping and juicing, take home some juice. Listen to a talk on cider making, stories for children, live music, see the magic show and buy apple-related products from stalls.
There will be a Natural Food Store Stall again with various delicious cakes containing apples. You can taste the cakes and take home the recipe, make it yourself! A display of all the ingredients used will encourage punters to find the shop and enjoy the delights to be found there.
Throughout the afternoon there will be apple-pressing, music, stalls, storytelling and a magic show. At 3.00 Mark Simmonds will be giving a talk on making cider. He will bring some cider made with apples from last year's Apple Day.
Come along and treat yourself. Apple-themed food and drink in Heart Cafe too.
What is Apple Day?
Apple Day is held across the country each year to celebrate apples, orchards and the fruits of our common spaces, gardens and allotments. It was initiated by Common Ground in 1990 as a way of demonstrating that variety and richness matter to a locality and it is possible to effect change where you live.
The first Apple Day to be held in Headingley was in 2012. It is sponsored by Headingley Development Trust, Urban Harvest, Headingley Farmers’ Market, Headingley Community Orchard, Headingley in Bloom, Bardon Grange Project and Heart.
